A Lecture of the Necessity of Unity of the Ummah by Mallam Ashiru

Posted on 03 March 2010 15:03 by İslâmi Davet

The Lecture on the fifth day was supposed to be delivered by Sheikh Sayyid Abubakar from Niamey, Niger Republic but could not attend due to illness. However, he sent his disciple Mallam Muhammad Ashiru to speak on his behalf.

Mal Ashiru spoke on the necessity of Unity amongst Muslims where he said it is made incumbent upon Muslims by Allah the creator upon Muslims. The fruits of unity are many, he said, adding that it is only through it the Ummah can achieve its goals and objectives. Most importantly Muslims unity will lead to God’s favour and acceptance whereas lack of it will lead to loss, he expressed

While speaking on the causes of disunity, the speaker explained that the Prophet of Islam(SAWA) warned the Ummah against disarray as the former nations did, but after the demise of the messenger not long ago the Ummah became divided for leadership aim. He noted that Jews and Christians opposed their Prophet but the Prophet warned his Ummah against following the path of Jews. However the Ummah did not pay heed and created divisions after him; they even killed and maimed Prophet’s son after him something not recorded in the case of former nations.

Regarding the successors after him, the Prophet described them as Noah’s ark who ever boards it is save and who declined is destroyed; they are endowed with knowledge, wisdom and fear of God all at highest level, Mal. Ashiru says, adding that after the Prophet those who raised to the position of leadership changed and followed their wishes. Mallam Ashiru further noted it was the beginning of divisions amongst the Ummah which still persists to this date in addition to millions of dollars being spent by the enemies of Islam to further create discord and division.

The speaker further explained that the solution lies in going back to the sources as everything is contained in the book of Allah and authentic sayings of the prophet if properly understood. This is because, he said, even the Mazahibs that exist nowadays were politically motivated after the demise of the prophet(SAWA) to support the ruling class of that time. He warned that selfish interest should not prevent Muslims from following the truth when they found it.

The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky thanked the Speaker for his contribution and reiterated that the aim of the gathering is to foster unity among Muslims of different Schools of Thought. He therefore advised that when discussing tough issues it is better to guide people towards inculcating habit of research than openly speaking about a people whose others respect.

He further explained the Prophet faced steep opposition from the Quraysh, however ,those who opposed him later embraced Islam in Madina and some of them brought about problems in the Ummah.

He added that now there are over one billion Muslims globally with majority of them following politically motivated Mazahibs , therefore, the only solution is for Muslims to accept one another despite the different Schools without calling a group to leave their Mazhab for another. This is the time of coming to together for the service of Islam especially on matters of necessity, the Sheikh pointed out.

The history of School of Thoughts originated when early Muslims who adhered to a particular School, migrated to different parts of world and spread that Mazhab in the environment. The leader added that this era is different from the former due to easy communication and transportations and as such Muslims can share their various understandings among themselves for the benefit of all; there should be no problem in this as Islam will greatly benefit.

He further added that Mazhab is similar to a language which disappears or change with change of environment. A person speaking particular language may find himself speaking in another due to change of environment, this also applies to School of Thought, The Sheikh noted

He concluded by stressing that what the Ummah need is Unity.

Enemies strategies to create discord among the Ummah

Posted on 03 March 2010 14:17 by İslâmi Davet

The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria delivered the second lecture due to inability of the second speaker to attend the program. He started by explaining the importance of unity gathering which he said the enemies realizes it and therefore they are doing their best to stop it. A lot of people, among the Ulema and the government workers, want to attend the program but are warned mostly by the authority to shun away. This is known from their confessions and excuses they offer. Some of them even expressed that they are warned not to attend.

Various forms of threats are being deployed to drive away some invited guests, speakers and Ulema from attending unity week program. The enemies are doing everything to paralyze the lectures as it poses danger to their interest. However , going by human nature, not every person may like to take any responsibility which may cause problem in his ambition or an investment which he toils for many years. Such investment may be wealth, job or positions.

Those who attained to high positions in Government work including those who amassed wealth may be excused based on this. However, scholars and clerics don’t have such investment or positions in offices and therefore should not entertain any fear, intimidation or threat when undertaking Islamic duties. Youths are mainly the agents of change as they don’t have such investments. Even the threat of harassment may not work because this can make some Clerics to submit, to the struggle, Sheikh Zakzaky expressed.

Another way employed by the enemies of Islamic re-awakening is to make sure scholars are prevented from associating with Islamic Movement by given them wealth and money. Sometimes a security agent is attached to a Cleric as student without the knowledge of the Cleric and in this way his activities or movements are known, so he remains detracted. However, this tactic may not work in future.

The enemies will do everything to make sure Muslim unity is not achieved and they cooperate with any group of Muslims that called others infidel to promote their evil agenda of disuniting the ummah. So, any one that promotes disunity among the Ummah,in any manner, works for the enemies of Islam weather he knows that or not. Loss awaits such people, they will lose everything including followership and they will face their consequences in the Next World, if they don’t desist, sheikh Zakzaky concluded.

How to Counter Enemies Plot during Unity Week Lecture

Posted on 03 March 2010 01:27 by İslâmi Davet

The Second Paper was delivered by Professor Idris Bugaje of University of Maiduguri. The Professor in Chemical Engineering expressed his happiness with the invitation to the Unity Week Lecture which he described as issues raised at a right time.

Prof. Bugaje delivered his speech on the ways to counter the enemies’ Plots. In his lecture he outlined steps to be taken by the generality of the Ummah to counter the plots adding that America, the Zionist Jews and some Christians in collaboration with some Muslims are hatching out plots to disunite Muslims. This Is because, he said, unity of Muslims will pose danger to their selfish interest. He added that a document tilted ‘Civil Democratic Islam’ containing the plots by America to divide Muslims can be searched on CIA website.

Prof. Bugaje outlined the following as some of the steps taken by the enemies of Islam:-

1- 1. Killings and maiming of Muslims and turning them into refugees in their own land like what happened recently in Jos. So, Muslims must protect themselves since Government cannot give them protection of their lives and properties. Muslims must keep to the teachings of Islam, they must know how to live together with non-Muslims.

2- 2. Abject poverty being imposed upon Muslims. Poverty index is much greater in Muslim areas, eg Jigawa state of Northern Nigeria has poverty index of 95% which means people live under one dollar a day. So, Muslims must fight poverty by inventing programmes without depending on government poverty eradication programmes which don’t yield positive results. Muslims must also find ways to deal with looters holding various positions in government.

3- 3. Lack of Qualitative Education in Muslims areas as designed by the enemies. Muslims must put effort in Education as depending on Public schools will not solve the problem, while private schools are expensive.

4- 4. Corruption in University Education. Good moral behavior is fast disappearing in Universities nowadays. So Muslim should take to preaching moral values.

5- 5. Media. The enemies always attack Islamic values through their various media outlets, therefore Muslims must set up media outlets like radio, satellite TVs and websites to counter the enemies attack.

6- 6. Economic hardship, lack of security and Power. These are the major problems which need urgent solutions.

He concluded by saying that the solution to the problems facing people is Islamic Revolution as it is the only way out, following the corrupt leaders will never help; the prophet’s foot step is the only solution.

Steps Towards Attaining Unity – Sheikh Sharif Adam

Posted on 01 March 2010 15:32 by İslâmi Davet

During the night session of the unity Week lecture, Sheikh Sharif Adam El-Yaqoub from Minna delivered a lecture on Steps towards Attaining unity of the Ummah. Sheikh Sharif is a renown scholar, a lawyer and presently the Chairman of Sharia Implementation Committee in Minna, Niger state.

Sheikh Sharif started by expressing the issue of unity as stated in the holy Quran ‘and holdfast to the covenant of God, and do not be disunited amongst yourselves’ stressing that unity is a command from Allah and therefore is a necessary duty upon Muslims.

Sheikh Sharif Adam delivering lecture on steps towards attaining unity.

He outlined the following points:-

1. 1. A Muslim shall practice Islam according to his understanding without condemning other people’s views.

2. 2. Muslims must imbibe the habit of telling the truth without prejudice adding that though there are external forces in causing disunity amongst Muslims, the internal forces, which come through Clerics by condemning others, are much more dangerous.

3. 3. Muslims must avoid calling other Muslims as unbelievers.

4. 4. Clerics must speak the truth to the people about any matter, even if it goes contrary to their previous teachings or understandings.

5. 5. Islam is testifying the two Shahada (Laílah Illallah, Muhammad Rasululla), five daily prayers, Zakat, fasting, and Hajj. Whoever believes in the above and stand by them is a Muslim.

Sheikh Sharif concluded by calling on Muslims to go into further readings and research and thanked the leader of the Islamic Movement for organizing such a gathering.

Sheikh Zakzaky also expressed his appreciation for honouring the invitation. He further highlighted that part of the enemies plot on Muslims is to cause disunity through poverty, poor sanitation due to inadequate water supply and moral decadence. They also want to give Islam a different meaning, example they want to change the meaning of Jihad to different thing.

They enemies also, the Sheikh added, always try to remove values of Quran, Ka’aba and Friday Congressional prayers. People read Quran without practicing its teachings, Hajj should serve a forum for discussing problems amongst Muslims from all nations and to strengthen unity, but Muslims during Hajj are kept far away from their brethren of other countries. Many mosques are built in one city just to disunite the Ummah.

Sheikh Zakzaky also called on Muslims to read books of other Schools of Thought as that will help in proper understanding of the message of slam and would strengthen unity amongst Muslims.

Sheikh Saleh Lazare Speaks on True Love of the Prophet and his Progenies (AS)

Posted on 01 March 2010 15:10 by İslâmi Davet

The Evening lecture was delivered by Sheikh Saleh Ahmad Lazare from Niger Republic. He delivered his lecture on the Love of the Prophet and Ahlul Bayt(AS). Sheikh Lazare started by expressing profound gratitude to Allah for sending best of His servants to guide mankind. This is the greatest blessing to Muslims he added.

No body can get Allah’s acceptance except one who follow the Prophet’s foot steps in all his endeavor, Sheikh Lazare expressed, adding that despite the guidance and the mercy brought by the messenger, the only reward we can offer to him, according to Quran, is to love his household and progeny.

Thus, the Sheikh noted, the Prophet in one of his sayings commands the Ummah to train a child on three important things. They are: – Love of the Prophet, Love of his Progeny and Recitation of the holy Quran. He further noted that true love cannot be attained unless the knowledge and good understanding about the prophet is fully obtained and appreciated. He therefore called on Muslims to double effort in trying to know the holy Prophet and his Household so that true love can be expressed to them.

He added that imitating the Prophet and his progeny is a necessary duty upon all Muslims. he called the attention of the gathering about some bad things attributed to holy Prophet and a lot of people don’t pay heed to those issues which are mainly found in Sunni books of Hadeeth. He added that those sayings attributed to the Prophet, as found in Books, are not truly his sayings, they are purely fabrications by the enemies of Islam who raised to power in the name of Islam.

He therefore recommends further readings and research in other to have proper understanding of the status of the holy Prophet(AS).

In his speech, Sheikh Zakzaky commanded the effort the Speaker who made intensive research into Sunni books to get clear picture adding that during the advent of Islam some men accepted Islam with hope that when it leads the world, as they have heard about it, they can gain to leadership status. Others became Muslims when they were overpowered while some embraced Islam willingly. He expressed that after the demise of the prophet, those who became Muslims out of love of leadership, became leaders and changed Sunnah of the prohet to suit their agenda or to hide their defects.

Sheikh further noted that, despite all the effort the Suunah of the Prophet remains intact with some few people. They are the custodian of the Islam- the household of the Prophet(AS).

Ahlul bayt(AS) are the custodian of religion of Allah up to the Last Hour without them Islam would have been lost. He called on people to go into further readings and research.

Professor Dahiru Yahya Speaks at Unity Week gathering

Posted on 01 March 2010 15:05 by İslâmi Davet

Professor Dahir Yahya of Bayero University, Kano delivered a lecture to hundreds of people during the ongoing Unity week program. He started by thanking the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria for organizing such a gathering where issues regarding Muslims Unity is discussed.

The Professor spoke generally on Political Systems in many Muslim countries where he said the politics can be grouped in two:

The first group is the type of Politic which is based on oppression and injustice which aims at controlling people and their resources. Politicians in this group want to squander people wealth for themselves and their children. The second type of politics , which is lacking, is based on Justice.

He further lamented that despite the fact that 4/5 of world resources is under the control of Muslims, yet they are being controlled by foreign countries which make Muslim backward while their citizens suffer.

Speaking on Islamic System of governance Prof Dahiru explained that it is only Iran, among Muslim nations, which established a system of governance base on ‘La’ilah ilallah Muhammad Rasulullah’, It established a System base on Islamic Principle as taught by Ahlul Bayt(AS) which shook world.

The world of kufr headed by America ,expressed their hatrage for Islam and imposed various sanctions on Iran with aim of crippling it, yet despite the sanctions on Iran and troops stationed at all corners, the enemies are fearful of Iran. A nation established on the Islamic Principle of Justice as taught by Prophet’s household(AS) cannot be crippled, expressed the Prof..

Muslims countries like Saudiya, should not be concerned with only Crude Oil deals but issues of unity and Islamic system of governance, added Professor Dahiru.

The Chief Host Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky thanked the Professor for his contribution and warned people to be careful not fall into the trap set by America and Zionists to devide Muslims. He added that they have planned on how to create divisions in Muslims as obtained in a document titled ‘Civil Democratic Islam’. In the document, they plan to categorise Muslims into Fundementalists, Traditionalists, modernists and Secularists. The aim is to create disunity among Muslims as Unity pose danger to their interest and hegemony.

The Sheikh further expressed that the world cannot progress on the right track without involvement of Muslims.

Posted on 01 March 2010 01:21 by İslâmi Davet

The annual Unity Week lecture starts on Friday the 12th of R/Awwal 1431 (26/2/2010). Unity week was set by the late Imam Khomeini(QS) with aim of bringing unity and understanding amongst Muslims. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria as usual organises such programme annually. On the first day of the Programme a lecture titled ‘The Prophet as a symbol of Change’ was delivered by Dr. Sadiq Abba of Political Science Department University of Abuja, Nigeria.

In his lecture the, the Speaker spoke on the importance of unity stressing that it is of utmost necessity in other to bring about change in the society. He explained how the Prophet of Islam changed a society highly characterized by ignorance and lack of civilization. He noted that despite the fact that the Prophet (SAWA) possessed all special qualities endowed to him by Allah, he fought and struggled in the defense of Islam.

He added that Islam is not only confine to daily rituals like prayers, rather, Islam it is a complete way of life and as such bringing about a change to have an Islamic society is a duty bound upon all Muslims pointing out that Change shall exist even if majority of people refused to carry it out.

Dr Sadiq further accused the Clerics of not standing by the course of Justice and truth; they are only after their selfish interest which prevents them from telling the truth to their followers. He concluded by saying that the true of the matter is that there is a dare need of change of System in Nigeria and only Muslims can bring about such a change because they have the Book of Allah with them.

The Chief host Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky thanked the lecturer and said that the Dr. Sadiq will be invited again in future programmes so that people can benefit from his vast knowledge in Politics.

The leader further added that the enemies of Islam are always devising ways to sow the seed of discord among Muslims; they print books and distribute freely to many Muslim countries with aim of disuniting Muslims in addition to hiring of some so called Ulema to promote disunity. Sheikh said whoever is paid for such duty will face the consequence in the Next World.

While thanking Dr. Sadiq, Sheikh Zakzaky highlighted some points raised by the Speaker where he said the Pre-Islamic society was characterized by idol worshipping but the Prophet, through excellent preaching and wisdom, was able to change it within a short period of time. Islam brought civilization and knowledge to the Arabian society which spread to the Europe which was in Dark Ages.

He added that the Nigerian society nowadays, contrary to Arab Pre-Islamic society in which a person of upright manner enjoyed respect, does not respect a trustworthy person. Sheikh Zakzaky concluded that to Change requires hard work even by a few people.

Hafta-e-Wahdat(Week of Unity)

Posted on 26 February 2010 19:19 by İslâmi Davet

The Thoughts and Words of Imam Khomeini(r.a) on Muslim Unity

O Muslims! Keep Away From the Disuniters!

O you powerful Muslims! Beware! Know yourselves and let the world know you.

Cast aside the sectarian and regional disputes, which have been created by the

World-devouring powers and their corrupt agents for the purpose of plundering you and treading upon your human and Islamic honor.

You are to cast away, in accordance with the judgment of Allah, the Most High, and the Glorious Qur’an, the disuniters, such as the mercenary akhunds and the ationalists who know nothing of Islam and of the interests of the Muslims. The harms of these people to Islam are no less than those of the world-devourers. They show Islam upside-down and pave the way for the plunderers. May Allah, the Most High, deliver Islam and the Muslim countries from the evil of the world-devourers and their affiliated and connected agents

The Difference Between the Shiites and the Sunnis Is the Want of the Foreigners

If there happens a dispute between the Iranian nation and the other nations, or between the Sunni brothers and the Shiite brothers, it will be to the disadvantage of all of us, of all Muslims.

Those who want to cause disunion are neither of the Sunnis nor of the Shiites. They are the directors of the Super Powers and they are serving them.

Those who try to create disunity between our Sunni brothers and our brothers of the

Shiite, are the groups who plot for the enemies of Islam. They want to help the enemies of Islam to overcome the Muslims. They are the followers of America, and some are the followers of the USSR. The Muslims, wherever they may be must be aware that disunion between a country in the farthest end of the world and another one on the other end of the world, does not mean a local dispute.

The world of today is not like before. It will not be the question concerning only that part of the world. If there is a dispute among you brothers in Iran, it will concern the whole world, and if there is a dispute between the Iranian brothers and the Iraqi brothers, i.e., the Iraqi nation, it is a matter concerning the whole world, not a local matter between Iran and Iraq.

It is considered in the whole world, as those in the world who want to put the profits of the world in their own pocket and to impose their control over the whole world, they exploit any disunion which may happen between the Shiite brothers and the Sunni brothers in Iran. Similarly, if it happened between our

Iranian brothers and the brothers who are in Pakistan, they exploit the situation, too.

We must be awake and know that the divine judgement says: “The believers are but

brothers” (Hujurat: 10). There is nothing among them other than brotherhood, and they are obliged to have brotherly conduct. It is a political point to have all the Muslim nations-nearly a milliard in number- be brothers to one another, in which case no harm may befall them and none of the Super Powers will be able to transgress them. O brothers! Pay attention to this!

Sunni and Shiite Brothers Should Avoid All Disputes

A group of the Muslims are Shiite, a group of the Muslims are Sunni, a group are Hanafi, a group are Hanbali, a group are Akhbari. Basically it was erroneous from the beginning to suggest such ideas. In a society where all want to serve Islam and to be for Islam, such matters should not be suggested. We all are brothers and are together. It is merely that your ulama issued a set of fatwas and you followed them in imitation, and so you became Hanafi. Another group became Shafi`i and followed him. Another group followed the fatwa’s of the Imam Sadiq and became Shiite. These should not be causes of difference. We should not have any difference or contradiction. We all are brother’s. The Shiite and Sunni brothers should avoid all differences. Today, our differences will be in the interest of those who believe neither in Shiism nor in the Hanafi or in the other sects. They want neither this nor that to be. Their way is to cause differences between us. We must realize that we are all Muslims, followers of the Qur’an and of tawhid, and that we must toil for the Qur’an and to serve tawhid

The Muslims of the World Are to Join Together

They are uselessly trying to create disunity. The Muslims are brothers and would not be disunited by the evil propaganda of some corrupt elements.

The origin of this question concerning Shiite and Sunni, the one on one side and the other on the other side, is caused by ignorance and by the propaganda waged by the foreigners.

They even cause disuninon among the Shiites themselves. They do the same among the Sunni sects, too, placing one group against another. Today all the sects of the Muslims are facing the Satanic powers who want to uproot Islam, because they do know that what can be dangerous to them is Islam, and that the greatest danger is in the unity of the Muslim nations.

Today is the day on which all the Muslims of the whole world must come together. Today is not the day for a group in a place to say: “Only we” and another group in another place say: “Only we”. Today is the day on which all are to be united on the basis of the rule of Islam and the Judgements of the Qur’an.

They are not to dispute. The dispute among the Muslims, in any way it may be, is prohibited by the Qur’an. Dispute will bring them failure and effaces the attractive qualities of man and nation. This is the command of Allah, the Generous.

Those who try to create disunion, and yet claim to be Muslims, have not found the Islam whose Book is the Qur’an, the Islam whose ka`bah is its Qiblah. They do not believe in Islam. The ones who believe in Islam are those who accept the Qur’a?n and its contents, the content which says: “The believers are but brothers”.

So they must comply with what brotherhood requires.

Brotherhood requires that if some misfortune happened to you all the other brothers, wherever they maybe, sympathize with you. If you are happy, all will be happy, too.

The Birth of Our Prophet(saa) and Mawlid

Posted on 25 February 2010 14:42 by İslâmi Davet

Muhammad the Master of Prophets, was born in Bani Hashim lane in Makkah on Monday morning, the ninth of Rabi‘ Al-Awwal, the same year of the Elephant Event, and forty years of the reign of Kisra (Khosru Nushirwan), i.e. the twentieth or twenty-second of April, 571 A.D.

Ibn Sa‘d reported that Muhammad’s mother said: “When he was born, there was a light that issued out of my pudendum (genital organs) and lit the palaces of Syria.” Ahmad reported on the authority of ‘Arbadh Ibn Sariya something similar to this.

It was but controversially reported that significant precursors accompanied his birth: fourteen galleries of Kisra’s palace cracked and rolled down, the Magians’ sacred fire died down and some churches on Lake Sawa sank down and collapsed.

His mother immediately sent someone to inform his grandfather ‘Abdul-Muttalib of the happy event. Happily he came to her, carried him to Al-Ka‘bah, prayed to Allaah and thanked Him. ‘Abdul-Muttalib called the baby Muhammad, a name not then common among the Arabs.

The first woman who suckled him after his mother was Thuyebah, the freed slave of Abu Lahab, with her son, Masrouh. She had suckled Hamzah Ibn ‘Abdul-Muttalib before, and later Abu Salamah Ibn ‘Abd Al-Asad Al-Makhzumi.

The Eleventh Imam Hasan ibn Ali (al-Askari) (AS)

Posted on 21 February 2010 14:26 by İslâmi Davet

The Eleventh Imam Hasan ibn Ali (al-Askari) (AS)

Born in Madina on the 10th of Rabuil Akhar 232 Hijri ( 6.12.846 AD) Died in Samarrah Iraq on 8th of Rabiul Awwal 260 Hijri (4.1.874) aged 28 years. Period of Imamat 6 years.

Samarra was a garrison town about 60 miles north of Baghdad. River Euphrates flows in the middle of the town, and because of the surrounding hills a cool breeze keeps the area cooler in comparison to Baghdad. The word ‘Asker’ in arabic is used for army. Our 11th Imam’s title became known as Askari, the one who lived all his life in a garrison town.

There is another story related with this name by many historians. Once the Caliph called him in his palace and ordered his army to march past before him. The Caliph wanted to boast or to impress the Imam of his power or to dissuade the Imam from any thoughts of revolution against the Abbasid Caliphate. When the march past was over, Imam asked the Caliph to gaze between two of his fingers. What the Caliph saw was a huge army of lancers and swords men marching past, a much bigger crowd than the Caliphs army. He was astonished at this miracle and named him Askari, i.e. the man with a big army.

Imam Hasan al Askari’s (AS) life from childhood to adulthood was spent in this house where his father Imam Ali Naqi (AS) was to remain under house arrest. But despite this close guard on the Imam, he conducted his duties as Imam from inside the house. He taught people Qur’an and instructed his followers the true teachings of Islam as taught by the Prophet of Islam and his Ahlulbayt. In fact Imam Hasan al-Askari wrote a complete Tafseer of the Qur’an which was mentioned by many scholars, historians and exegetes, including Kulaini and Saduq.

Imam’s life in Samarrah was not in peace even under house arrest. From time to time he was taken to Baghdad, questioned and put in prison there. On one such occasion, the Imam was taken by the Turkish guards to Baghdad where he was kept in prison during the short reign of the Caliph al-Muktadi and al-Mu’tamid afterwards.

While he was a prisoner in Baghdad there was a severe draught. Rain had not fallen for some time and crops were drying up. People were facing a famine. They did not know what to do. A Christian priest came to the rescue. He lifted his hands in prayer and rain fell. The Caliph became concerned lest for this reason people would forsake Islam and become Christians. When the Imam was consulted, he said that when people assembled to see the so called miracle performed by the Christian priest, he would remove their doubts. The Imam was allowed to leave the prison to go where the crowd assembled to see the miracle performed by the priest. Imam stood there with the crowd and when the priest raised his hands for prayand rain began to fall, Imam told one of his companions to seize the hands of the priest and bring the piece of bone hidden in his hands. When this bone was brought before the Imam, he said that it was the bone of a Prophet of God. It was the effect of this holy bone when lifted in prayers to God that brought God’s mercy and brought rain to the land. This way the Imam lifted the doubts from the minds of the people. After this the Imam himself spread his prayer mat and performed two Rak’ats of prayers then lifted his bare hands to God for rain to come to the land and wipe out the draught. The Imam’s prayers were heard by the Almighty and rain fell so much that the land became fertile again and crops began to grow. (Kulaini, Akhbarus Alam)In recognition of this service the Imam was allowed to leave the prison in Baghdad and live in his house in Samarrah, still under house arrest. He was still not allowed to go to Madina.

A detailed account of the marriage of Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS) was told by Majlisi in Biharul Anwar. His father Imam Ali Naqi (AS) entrusted this important matter to his friend Bashir ibn Sulaiman.First the Imam wrote a letter in the script of ‘Rum’ and sealed it with his own noble seal. He placed the letter in a red purse, with 220 Dinars and then said to his friend, “Take this letter and go to Baghdad. Go to the ferry at the River Tigris when the boats from Syria are being unloaded. Look out for the ship owner whose name is Amr. Observe when he exhibits a slave girl who would be wtwo silk garments and a veil to protect her from being seen or handled by the buyers. You will hear her call out in the language of ‘Rum’, ‘even if you have the wealth and glory of Solomon the son of David, I can never have affection for you, so take care lest you waste your money in purchasing me.’ And if a buyer approaches her, she will say, ‘ Cursed be the man who unveils my eyebrow’ Her owner will then protest, ‘But what recourse have I, I am compelled to sell you? You will then hear the slave answer, ‘ Why this haste, let me choose my purchaser, that my heart may accept him in confidence and gratitude.’

“ You are to go then O Bashir, and tell the trader Amr that you have a letter written in the script of Rum by a certain nobleman, and that this letter shows his kindness, appreciation and liberality. You must give this letter to the slave girl to read, that she may agree to be bought by the man who has passed this letter to you.

Bashir reported later, “ When I carried out these instructions and the girl received the letter, she began to cry as she read the letter. Then she said to Amr, “ Sell me to the writer of this letter, for if you refuse I would surely be very unhappy and you will never be able to sell me to anyone else.” I therefore talked over the price with Amr, until we agreed on the 220 Dinars my master had given me. When I paid the money, and received the girl. She came with me without protest. In fact she was smiling and looking very pleased. In her excitement she took the letter from the Imam Ali Naqi (AS) from her pocket and kissed it, put it on her eyes and then put it back into her pocket. I told her I was amazed that she should act this way when as yet she did not know the writer. She answered, “May the descendant of the Prophet dispel your doubts.” Afterwards she gave me the following account of herself.

“ I am a princess, the granddaughter of the Emperor of Rum. My mother was a descendant of the disciple Simon, the vicegerent of Jesus. My grandfather the Emperor was anxious to marry me to his nephew. I was 15 years old. At his castle he gathered a great assembly, including 300 monks and hermits, 700 of the nobility and 4000 of the officials of the army. I had a special throne made for me where I sat with the man I was about to wed. Christian priests were ready to pay us honour. They opened the Injil (Bible), and immediately all the images around us fell to the ground and broke. My cousin also fell down on the ground and fainted. All the great officials were overcome with fear and said,” O’ king, preserve us from witnessing this ill-fated day, for this sort of thing is a proof of the decline and disappearance of the Christian religion as we know it.” At this my grandfather was very angry and he ordered that all images should be brought back and put in their places. Once again they all fell down and a great storm blew the lights all around. At this second occurrence people were frightened and left the assembly hall. My grandfather fell himself and the whole occasion was cancelled for some other day.

One night after this I saw a dream, in which Jesus appeared with his disciples at the palace where the throne was erected. Their they built a pulpit of light, and behold, Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his wasi Ali(AS) and all his exalted descendants came into the palace. Jesus went forward to embrace Muhammad,(SA) who said, O’Spirit of God, I have come to seek the daughter of your Wasi Simon for my son Hasan al-Askari.” Jesus(AS) looked to Simon who was with him and said, “ Nobility and glory has come to you in this chance to unite mercy with that of the family of Muhammad(SA).” To this Simon assented and all of them assented to the pulpit of Light while Muhammad(SA) conducted the wedding service. After the dream, when I wokeup I was afraid and dared not repeat the story to my father or my brothers for fear that they would kill me. While I kept the secret, love of Hasan al-Askari found its place in my heart and constrained me to give up drinking wine and I did not want to eat. As a result of not eating I grew thin and became ill. All possible treatment was available for me but without success. In the end my father told me, “ O’you who have seen a light, tell me what is wrong with me. The doors of pleasure are closed for me. A voice replied, ” if you set some of your prisoners free, it is possible that Jesus and his mother may help you.” I told my father of this dream and requested that some of the prisoners should be set free. My father granted my request, and after that I took food and felt better. A few days passed and I had another vision, when Fatima the daughter of the Prophet and Mariam, the mother of Jesus came to me and explained that Hasan al-Askari could not come to me unless I should become a muslim and declare, that there no God but One God and Muhammad is the last apostle of God. This I accepted and after that I saw Hasan al-Askari in my vision.”

But how did you come to fall among the prisoners? asked Bashir. She replied, “ Hasan al-Askari told me that my father was planning to send an army against the muslims and that I should disguise myself and some of my women servants and arrange to go along with the army. I did this and before long some of the muslim army guards captured us, and now you see how it all turned out.”

Bashir related that when they reached Samarrah he went to the Imam Ali Naqi (AS) who received the party gladly. The Imam asked the girl if he should give her Ten Thousand Dinars or a bit of good news. When she chose the latter, he informed her that she was to be given to his son Hasan al-Askari as she has seen in her dreams and that she was to be the mother of the one who was to cause justice to reign upon the earth. She was then committed to Ali Naqi’s sister Hakima who was to look after her.

Such is the account of the wedding of Hasan al-Askari to Nargis Khatoon as Majlisi recorded it in such detail in Bihar-al-Anwar.(The same account was found in Shaikh Tusi’s book ) A few days later the wedding took place between Imam Hasan al-Askari and Nargis Khatoon, the grand daughter of the Emperor of Rum.

Imam Hasan al-Askari(AS) lived a short life, only Twenty Eight years and in this short life he had to endure great sufferings by the hands of the Abbasid caliphs. But in spite of all that suffering and confinement under house arrest in Samarrah, many students of Islam benefited from his God gifted knowledge and later became scholars in their fields. He discussed with agnostics of that age many times about the existence of God and the reasons for the necessity of the Prophets and Imams and many atheists changed their minds and converted to Islam. One of those was Ishaq al-kindi who was writing a book about contradictions in Qur’an. Imam invited some of his students and taught them lessons from the Qur’an. These students of Al-kindi confronted their teacher and rejected his arguments about the contradictions in the Holy Book. Al-Kindi realised that these arguments could not have come from the brains of these young students. He asked them about the secret of their extensive knowledge of the Qur’an. In the end they confessed that Imam Hasan al-Askari taught them. Kindi himself became the disciple of our Imam, burnt his own writings on atheism and later wrote many treatises on Islam.

Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS) also dictated many Traditions of the Holy Prophet and recorded many explanations of the verses of the Holy Qur’an.

One of the famous traditions people learnt from Imam Hasan al-Askari was, “ The wine drinker is like an idolater.” Ibn al Jawzi in his book “Tehrim al Khamr” mentioned this tradition from the Imam from the most reliable narrators of Hadith.

Historians have noted many names of the Imam’s students who became scholars of their time

One of the famous students of the Imam was Abu Ali al-Hasan ibn Khalid who prepared a commentary of the Holy Qora’an which should be considered the work of the Imam himself. The Imam used to dictate its contents to Abu Ali who went on writing the commentary. Scholars indicated that the book consisted of 1920 pages.

In spite of the fact that the Imahad never given any cause for concern to the Caliphs of his time, their guilt in this matter was so great that they did not leave these pious personalities in peace. If they had no fear of their throne they were afraid of the excellence and knowledge of the Imams. In the case of Imam Hasan al-Askari, the same type of jealousy led to the poisoning of the Imam to end this life of a saint whose only activity was to teach Qora’an as the Prophet and his Ahlulbayt taught before him. During the rule of Al-Mu’tamid poison was given to the Imam mixed in some fruit and he died on 8th Rabi-al-Awwal 260 Hijri. He left only one son, whose name was Muhammad who was only five years old when his father died.

The Caliph Al- Mu’tamid himself attended the funeral prayer. When they all lined up and were ready to commence the prayers, Imam Hasan al-Askari’s brother Jaafar stood in front of the people to lead the prayer. Before he could commence the prayer, a five year old boy came out of the house, went near his uncle. Shook his mantle and told him, “set aside uncle, only an Imam can lead the funeral prayer of an Imam”. His uncle Jaafar stepped aside and this five year old boy lead the prayers. Immediately after the end of the prayer he went inside his house and was not seen by his pursuers, lead by the caliph Mu’tamid himself.

Our Eleventh Imam was buried in the same house where he had died, by the side of his father Imam Ali Naqi (AS). By the passage of time, the place was transformed into a great mausoleum and pilgrims from all over the Islamic lands came to pay their homage to the two Imams of Ahlulbayt who were buried there.

Who is Hajj Imad Moghnieh?

Posted on 15 February 2010 02:36 by İslâmi Davet

Thursday the 12th of July, 1962 was no ordinary day for the southern town of Tair Dibba. On that day the town’s Fayez Moghnieh family received a new born they named Imad Moghnieh, the first and eldest of his brothers. Relative to his peers, Imad’s childhood flew rapidly, and he died martyr before old age set in. He was assassinated at the age of 45, on the 12th of February, 2008. His martyrdom became a beacon to the resistance fighters, just as his life, biography and deeds were.

Imad was brought up by modest and spiritual parents; their religiosity and love of Ahl-Albait was passed onto him from a young age. He was worthy of the legacy which he bequeathed in turn to the thousands of Mujahideen he met, and the thousands of Mujahideen to come.

From his childhood through youth to his martyrdom, Imad was a special person, known for his religiosity and piety, jovialness and love for others. His great sense of tolerance and humility with the pious was contrasted with an intense and rugged arrogance and condescension to the enemies of God, the enemies of His Messenger and the enemies of the believers.

Due to difficult living conditions, Fayez Moghnieh’s family moved along with Imad and his brothers to the southern suburbs of Beirut to settle in the town of Shiah, a suburb which became a source for a great number of martyrs and cadres of resistance.
Imad went to Shiah school until the beginning of 1975 when the civil war began in Lebanon. He joined the ranks of Fatah movement at the time to defend the Palestinian resistance and protect his people in the wake of attacks and killings by forces loyal to “Israelis”. Imad enrolled in one of the elite units of the Fatah movement, soon to rise rapidly in its ranks, although he was the youngest among his peers at the time. He received a great deal of training and combat skills in the ranks of this unit. When he was later put in charge of one of Fatah’s centers, he drew a large number of young people to the unit, who rallied around him and acted under his orders though they were mostly older than him at the time.

Despite his responsibilities in the Fatah movement, and despite the war and its almost daily battles, Imad clung to his religious commitment and was a regular attendant at Shiah mosque and a committed listener to the sermons of its preachers and classes of its teachers, among them Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, who came to the area from al-Naba’a locality in East Beirut, in the wake Phalange Party attacks on its people.

Imad headed a cell of faithful people that provided protection and escort for Ayatollah Fadlallah, after the failed assassination attempt on his life in 1980, until the “Israeli” invasion of Lebanon in 1982, when he, along with a number of his brethren were among the first Mujahideen to confront the advancing “Israeli” Army in Khaldeh area.
He remained in Beirut during its siege and the period that followed, when the “Israeli” Army moved into a number of Beirut’s neighborhoods. He was among the Mujahideen who silently worked against the “Israelis”, inflicting them with heavy losses and casualties which they had to carry with them as they were forced to retreat out of Beirut.

Not settling for its withdrawal from Beirut, Imad pursued the “Israeli” forces into the south and was among the initial founders of resistance action against “Israel”. He moved with his friends to join the ranks of the resistance since its founding beginnings in 1982, when Hajj Radwan-known as a commander, planner, military and security engineer- was responsible for the planning and execution of many jihad operations against the occupying “Israelis.”

The Americans accused Hajj Radwan of masterminding their humiliating exit from Lebanon, along with the French forces, which invaded Lebanon in the framework of a multinational force to replace the “Israeli” occupation forces in Beirut. According to U.S. intelligence, Hajj Radwan was behind the bombings against the Americans in Lebanon, including the simultaneous bombing of the Marines in 1983, which killed 241 Americans, and the French paratroopers Camp that killed at least 63 French paratroopers.
This led to the collapse of the U.S. plan in Lebanon, as the Americans were forced to retreat from the Lebanese arena.

Martyr Hajj Radwan was a forerunner among brothers and martyrs who achieved many resistance victories in southern Lebanon throughout the years of “Israeli” occupation. He was the victor and the “Israelis” lost in the many confrontation rounds he engaged them in. He developed a resistance combat school that was to become a model, whether by planning, implementation, equipage, or knowledge of and work on enemy capabilities and weaknesses.
Thus, strength-building was conducive to the goal of victory.
This led eventually to victory in the year 2000; at the time, he was the field commander against a first time ever retreat by the “Israeli” Forces from Lebanon, the first unconditional “Israeli” retreat from Arab land since the establishment of Zionist entity.
He also commandeered the July 2006 war victory, a heroic epic that totally transformed modern warfare doctrine; a war victory studied in depth by friends and foes alike, who are still working on understanding it, in order to either emulate it or to find ways to confront it.

After his martyrdom, Hajj Radwan deserved the exceptional title of “Leader of the Two Victories” given to him by Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the May 2000 and the July 2006 victories.

“Israel” assassinated Hajj Imad Moghnieh at forty five years of age, after many years of jihad achievements and victories during which the “Israelis” were given a taste of humiliation, disgrace and defeat.
Two brothers preceded Martyr Hajj Radwan to the afterlife, covered with their blood of martyrdom. The first is Jihad, martyred in 1984 and the second is Martyr Hajj Fouad, assassinated in 1995 by an explosive device that targeted him in Sfeir area, in the southern suburbs.
Hajj Radwan died a martyr after more than 25 years of being chased by “Israeli”-U.S. and Western intelligence cooperation, to have him kidnapped or killed.
