Olu\u015fan bu bile\u015fi\u011fin 250\u00b0C bozunmas\u0131 ile saf nikel elde edilir.<br \/>\n Ni + 4CO (50\u00b0C)\u00e0Ni(CO)4 (230\u00b0C)\u00e0Ni + 4CO<br \/>\nDi\u011fer bir y\u00f6ntem ise pirotin ad\u0131 verilen piritlerin i\u015flenmesi s\u0131ras\u0131nda elde edilir. Kavurma i\u015fleminde demir, demir okside y\u00fckseltgenirken, nikel s\u00fclf\u00fcrleri halinde kal\u0131r. Bu \u00fcr\u00fcn silis, kok ve kil ile kar\u0131\u015ft\u0131r\u0131larak eritilir. Olu\u015fan nikel mat\u0131 denilen denilen k\u00fck\u00fcrt\u00e7e zengin erimi\u015f haldeki kar\u0131\u015f\u0131m kavrularak NiO elde edilir. Oksit deri\u015fik HCl asit ile \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcnd\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fckten sonra olu\u015fan tuz bazikle\u015ftirilerek Ni(OH)2 elde edilir. K\u0131zd\u0131r\u0131larak tekrar daha saf NiO elde edilir.
