Kaya g\u00f6vde dolgu tipi olan baraj\u0131n g\u00f6vde hacmi 5.200.000 m3, akarsu yata\u011f\u0131ndan y\u00fcksekli\u011fi 109,00 m., normal su kotunda g\u00f6l hacmi 60,00 hm3, normal su kotunda g\u00f6l alan\u0131 1,74 km2’dir. Baraj y\u0131ll\u0131k 142 hm3 i\u00e7me suyu sa\u011flamaktad\u0131r.<\/p>\n
Kocaeli ilinin su ihtiyac\u0131n\u0131n %80’ini kar\u015f\u0131lamaktad\u0131r. 2006 y\u0131l\u0131 yaz\u0131nda kuruyan baraj yap\u0131lan \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar sonucunda 2007T\u00fcrkiye’deki bir \u00e7ok il susuzluk \u00e7ekerken al\u0131nan \u00f6nlemler sayesinde Kirazdere (eski ad\u0131yla Yuvac\u0131k) Baraj\u0131, Kocaeli’nin su ihtiyac\u0131n\u0131n tamam\u0131n\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131lam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n
Bu baraj Yuvac\u0131k beldesinde oldu\u011fundan bu baraja \u00f6nceleri “Yuvac\u0131k Baraj\u0131” ad\u0131 verilmi\u015ftir. Bu baraj bir hidroelektrik santrali olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131ndan sadece \u015fehre i\u00e7me suyu sa\u011flamaktad\u0131r.
